The community folder in Microsoft Flight Simulator is the directory where addons such as aircraft, repaints, and airports, are read by the program. The community folder is located in the main Microsoft Flight Simulator folder, which the user chooses the location of during installation.
The default location is usually
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\ for the Microsoft Store version, or
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightDashboard_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\ for the Steam version.
Not sure where you installed the MSFS folder? Follow these easy steps below.
In the main menu of MSFS, select the Options tab.
Go the General.
On the left panel, select Developers. On the Developers page, switch developer mode on. (Note: Developer mode will need to be turned off when you are finished!)
On the DevMode menu bar which appears on top, open Tools, and select Virtual File System from the list (pictured below).
In the new window, open Watched Bases. Here, you will find the exact location of the Community folder. If the text is too long to display, you can resize the window by dragging the bottom right corner.
Note that the Community folder may be listed in a different location than pictured, as the directory will vary depending on user installation settings.
Now that you have the location of your Community folder, one last step is important—switch off developer mode! You will not earn any game achievements while it’s on!
